A mother taking a stand!

For the Past six months or so I have watched and heard cars go past our house so fast and I decided to take action. On the south side of our town, there is a road that takes you out towards Ephraim that they closed do to construction. They have detoured all traffic down our road past our house. When you are a mother or father who has children who want to go outside and play and you have to say NO because you are worried for their safety, this is quite a big deal. We have had cops sit down past our house monitoring and have issued many tickets. They have also called the construction company and told them to have all workers slow down. Still, I have not seen any change. This morning I laid in bed and was awoke by what I thought sounded like a train going past our house, but was actually a big semi truck passing. So I have decided that I am done and something more needs to be put to action. So I made a sign saying "A MOTHER IS BEGGING YOU TO PLEASE SLOW DOWN" and Katelynn and I went and stood outside by the road holding them. It was very interesting to see the reactions as people drove by. Some gave a thumbs up. Some even waved and got on there CB's to inform the others coming down the road about it. Athough, I still even had one just give me a dirty look and speed up. One of the Foremans pulled over and told me "good job, now that's getting it done". He also told me he was going to inform his boss of a few co-workers pasted us driving really fast and what was going on. He also has a highway patrolman as a friend and is going to have him come and monitor it also. It's nice to know some people still care. Tomorrow I'm going to the city building and filing a complaint and seeing what can be done with that. If any of you know anybody working the construction on Pigeon Hollow lane in Spring City Utah, please inform them of my concern that the speed limit is 25 mph. Thank You for helping a Mother stand against wreckless driving.

What a trooper my little guy is!!!

The last couple of days Mason has had a run in with a hot pan and a knife.
Yesterday Fletcher was cooking dinner and the kids decided to help. Katelynn was stirring the chicken in a frying pan when Mason went to help by getting a chair and putting it next to her when she just happened to pick up the pan, then turned and ask Fletcher if it was done. Mason was bent over trying to climb up the chair when he got burned. It was so hard to see Mason crying because he was hurt. Also Katelynn was crying because she felt so bad that she had hurt her brother.
Today we were all getting ready to go to Walmart. I just had finished combing the kids hair and I had told them to go get their shoes on. While I was getting dressed I heard Mason yell and he started to cry. When I went into the kitchen I saw Fletcher holding Mason over the sink with a paper towel covered with blood. When I had asked what had happened he pointed to a little pampered chief chopping knife on the floor. I really didn't no how bad it was until I saw blood gushing out of the middle of his finger. So we decided to take him in to the emergency room. The Doctor told us there really was no way to keep it together without stitches. So to cause less trauma for the little guy the Doctor gave him this stuff to sedate him. It was a drink, and getting that down him was the worst of it all. He cried more from that then when they stitched him up. He was so cute after the stuff stared working he was drooling Fletcher kept telling him to swallow but he just thought it was so funny and started blowing spit bubbles. He had us all laughing! It's funny for a little two year old to be hurt and be the life of the party. He was really cracking us all up. He was such a brave little man even the Doctor and nurse was getting a kick out of him. When they started stitching him up he just watched the whole thing without even a tear. Katelynn and I on they other hand could not even watch it, it was so horrible.
After all of this I really hope that he learned his lesson for as many times as we have told him not to play with knives or anything sharp.

Only nine weeks to go!!!

Time sure has gone by fast! In the last bit I have found my self not blogging or even getting on facebook that often. I've just been trying to get things ready for our new little one to arrive. Plus I have found that you can really get cought up in being on the computer. I think it has help keep me busy but doing the wrong thing. When I think about how much time we have left it scares me to know how much stuff we have left to do and prepare for. So My husband and I have decide to put aside some of our adictions and get some other things done before the baby arrives. So I apologize to you all for not keeping up with my blogging.
One of things I do for each of my kid's is make a quilt for there crib. It's just one thing that I feel that I can give to them. Here is the one I just finished for are baby girl...
