It's done! I feel it is safe to say that Mason is potty trained. I'm so proud of him and I love him so much. He is my big boy.
It has been my trial and error for the last six months. We have had some interruptions, regression, discouragements and tears but Mason has been strong and kept with it through everything. I feel bad because I know now that it is truly up to the parents to see things through. I failed! I admit that I got lazy, and discouraged and I might have started him at the wrong time. I guess that there is no way to know when or if you are going to have interruptions. It took two weeks to finish from the time that I decided to start over. Well, sort of started over. I just made it my
goal to get it done with no more excuses.
Next time I will know the things to do different and the things that I would keep the same. I do know that your child comes first and that every thing else isn't as important. You do have to give up everything for that first few days and follow them around to get to know their signs, remind them to tell you when they have to go, take them often, reward themand give them positive reinforcement. Never be negative and just love them. I also have found that I couldn't let him run around naked. It's to hard to change later. Leave them with a shirt on and give them big girl or boy underwear. Do get rid of the diapers they are a no more needed and use only
pull-ups during naps or bed time. Never use them any other time not even when you travel it confuses them. All you have to do when you go places is just keep up the same routine with them. It works.
Congratulations Mason on becoming a big boy!
